Heist Brew Co. are bringing ‘beer you believe in’ and the perfect bar to Kelham’s vibrant scene this summer. The venue, located by The Gardeners Rest, Kelham Flea, SteelYard and Cutlery Works is set to open in July (over a year behind schedule, cheers COVID-19).
Two bars, one on-site brewery, thirty taps (craft beer, lager & cider), Heist Brew Co. spirits, wine, burgers from Slap & Pickle, coffee & a brunch menu, arcade games and events open six days a week! Sounds like dream, right?
Well we’ve been dreaming about this place since last April, Adam & Dan, who founded the brewery four years ago have been planning it for much longer. The Heist Brew Co. story begins in Clowne, Chesterfield where the pair wanted to replicate the beers they have tasted from around the world so they launched a crowdfunder, raised £20k, started brewing and opened up their own tap room.
The beers were a success, they needed to upscale and found the perfect home, a warehouse in Neepsend. The move couldn’t have been at a worse time as lockdown was enforced just as they shut down the Clowne brewery. After troubled restarts on the renovation project and delays things are finally taking shape (last time we popped in they didn’t even have a roof!).
On the bar they’ll be ten beers brewed in-house, four from BrewDog, one from Hungry and a rotation of craft beers, lagers and ciders that you won’t find elsewhere in the city. They’ll also be serving their own spirits (inc. vodka, gin, rum & whiskey) as well as old school soft drinks. Open from 10am Tuesday to Sunday so you can pop in for a coffee & brunch in the daytime. Slap & Pickle will be serving up (argulably the best) burgers & loaded fries too!
There’s gluten free & vegan options for both food & drink.
The fun doesn’t stop there…
They have arcade games, grabbers (with cans & merch to win), 2p machines and a huge shuffle board making it hard to do a Kelham pub crawl when you could spend all night here. P.S. It’s also dog friendly!

Heist are in good company when it comes to beer, within 10 minutes walk you’ve got almost a dozen traditional boozers selling some of the finest real ales (and a growing number of craft beers) in the country as well as several bars focusing specifically on craft beer. Let’s say, it’s not hard to stumble across a decent pint in Kelham.
Not only does the area thrive when it comes to places to drink, but it’s also full of great breweries too. Kelham Island Brewery is where it all started (not just for Kelham, they’ve inspired breweries from around the world) who are still going strong, Neepsend Brew Co. and Sheffield Brewery are within shouting distance, Little Critters and Blue Bee are nearby whilst award-winning newbies The Brewery of St. Mars of the Desert are up in Attercliffe.
