Sheffield has new vegan-friendly venues opening all over the city. In this post, Kat from Kelham Island Kitchen summarises her favourite cafes in different areas of Sheffield so you can find a delicious oat milk latte wherever you are in the city!
Aesthete Coffee + Kitchen is a beautiful little cafe in the heart of Walkley. This coffee shop serves all their food and drink in fancy crockery and has table service which makes your trip feel a little bit special.
Your eyes will be drawn straight towards the display of huge cakes on the counter and there is always a couple of vegan options. I suggest you get one to take away and enjoy some hot food in the cafe. Get a classic tomato and mozzarella toastie or burrito salad bowl with whipped avocado.
Blue Moon Cafe is the original vegetarian cafe in Sheffield, opening in 1995. Located next to the Cathedral, it is the perfect place for a stop off when wandering around the centre.
Get yourself a delicious hearty home-cooked meal from their seasonal menu. Grab a plate of delicious Turkish Aubergine or classic Hommity pie. Blue Moon offer lighter dishes too as well as an array of sweet treats, hot drinks and ice cream
Coffika serves delicious homemade lunch and brunch options. The avocado toast is amazing. They don’t charge for oat milk which is excellent and their hot chocolate is one of the best around.
There is always a few vegan cake options. The last time I went there was a cookie sandwich that I would definitely recommend.
Gaard Coffee Hide has been an essential coffee stop in Kelham Island since it opened in 2018. This all-vegetarian is the vast majority vegan. Unless an item is labelled veggie it is vegan. They have wonderful options for breakfast and lunch.
Whether you want to go all out with a loaded croissant or opt for a healthy budda bowl. Their sweet treats are also second to none and the biscoff cheesecake is a must try.
Kat has been a vegan for over 5 years and runs the Sheffield based vegan blog Kelham Island Kitchen. On Kat’s blog and social media pages, she shares delicious vegan recipes and reviews of local vegan-friendly businesses.

Please note: None of these cafes are strictly vegan places but they cater for vegans with a wealth of great options.
