Kelham Island’s real ale story begins here. On it’s opening night back in 1981 there was a queue around the block as the first pub dedicated to real ale arrived. It continues to dedicate itself to real ale and remain popular despite tough competition close-by.
On weekends you’ll struggle to get to the awkwardly shaped bar but you’re rewarded with great beer, and if it’s sunny, the beer garden is perfect.
The Fat Cat is also the home of Sheffield’s oldest brewery, Kelham Island Brewery.
