We first met Adam and Dan from Heist Brew Co. in early 2020, pre-pandemic. They still had their first tap room in Clowne, which had been open 4 years and they’d established themselves in the craft beer scene.
They had out-grown their first home and had their eyes on ‘The Valley of Beer’ (Kelham Island) for a while. After finally finding the perfect venue (technically in Neepsend) everything was in place to start the move in March, and open the tap room and brewery a couple of months later.
The Clowne bar closed, the brewing equipment was in storage and the initial work had begun on the empty warehouse (the roof had been removed) then lockdown happened…
Everything was up the air for the first couple of months as restrictions put work on hold, delays and complications continued to push back every part of the project they had planned. Whilst doing work themselves, admin and managing contractors they were also popping up at other breweries so they could continue to brew beer.
We’ve been checking in every so often and even just a few weeks ago the site still looked like a building site… It doesn’t anymore!
They probably got bored of us asking “when are you opening?” but work is complete and today, the doors opened to the public! They’ve assembled a new brew team who’ve already started brewing some amazing beers which are pouring from taps by passionate bar staff who know craft beer inside-out just metres away from where the beer has been brewed.
There’s 30 different beers on 2 bars that include some exciting rarities from far and wide but it’s not just about the beer, they’ll be making spirits in-house too! The bar will be open 12pm till midnight Tuesday to Saturday (12pm – 11pm on Sunday’s).
Whilst we can’t wait to sink a few pints, there’s more to this place than beers. The Ritual will be serving coffee & donuts (Tues – Sat 9am – 6pm/Sun 10am – 6pm) whilst the best burgers we’ve ever tasted will be flying out of the Slap & Pickle kitchen from 12pm (Tues – Sun)!
Oh, and did we mention the arcades? They’ve got arcade games, a 2p machine, a grabber with cans and merch as well as a shuffleboard!
