Christmas is cancelled. Well, not entirely but Kelham Island Museum‘s much loved Victorian Christmas Market is, which is sad news for many.
The museum posted on Facebook.
“Unfortunately, with great regret and after much consideration, we have taken the very difficult decision to cancel the Victorian Christmas Market this year.
In these unprecedented times, we have no way of knowing what the government restrictions will be in December regarding public events and social distancing. Therefore we do not feel we can safely run the event this year or guarantee the high footfall that we and our stallholders rely on to make the weekend a success.
As a charitable trust, the Victorian Christmas Market is an important event for the museum. This has not been an easy decision to make but the health, safety and wellbeing of our visitors, staff, stallholders and performers is our greatest priority.
Thank you for your continued support.”
