Lockdown Update: La Baracca

It’s been a mad few weeks. Our daily lives have changed, we miss seeing the friendly faces behind our favourite independents. We are sure you do too, so we thought we’d check in.

Not only have they had to adapt their own lifestyle to the new normal, their business has had to change too.

We caught up with Lorraine from La Baracca on Abbeydale Road.

How has your business changed over the past few weeks?

We are open 3 days a week, Thursday – Saturday 5pm – 9pm for collections and delivery of hot meals from our menu. We also have a range of groceries, which include, freshly baked bread, pasta, tuna, flour, tinned tomatoes as well as goodies from the Polish deli. We take cash, card and contactless payments.

Lockdown has been a challenge but Saverio has been quick to adapt to serve the local community and converted the restaurant to a takeaway. The staff are working with us and appropriate precautions have been made to ensure that staff and customers are protected. We are taking each day as it comes and working with the needs of our customers.

How do you see the long-tern impact on small businesses?

Who knows what the future holds, but as a business we must be ready to adapt and be flexible to deal with the financial challenges that lie ahead.
