Macpot win their HMRC appeal reward staff

It was looking exciting for Macpot when they opened Sheffield’s first restaurant dedicated to Mac ‘n’ Cheese in Orchard Square. Within a few weeks lockdown kicked in and it went down hill.

Like many new businesses they hadn’t been trading long enough to have access to government grants and loans and it looked like they might have to permanently close!

Thankfully they were fighters and instead of being another business falling victim to COVID-19 they set-up a crowd funding campaign so they could serve Mac ‘n’ Cheese again, whilst appealing for government support.

Good news, they won the battle and access to support from the government giving the business s future.

Not only that, they are using the money raised from the crowd funding campaign to pay their furloughed staff so that they received 100% of their wages. Great work guys!

The restaurant isn’t reopening just yet but they are still doing ‘bake at home’ deliveries, head over to Facebook for more info on that.
