Network Chilli chillis

Ready, steady, cook with Network Chilli

This afternoon I was invited to meet curry mad Carl in his studio just off Abbeydale Road for a one-to-one lesson on how to make my favourite curry. I’m not going to lie, it was a blast.

Carl, originally from Huddersfield but lived in Sheffield long enough to call it home has been cooking since 16 so he didn’t have to put up with his mum’s awful grub. Following a career in teaching (he still fits private tuition in on the side) he decided to put his two loves, teaching and curry together into Network Chilli.

At school your favourite teacher was the one with the best personality, the one you could have bants with but he also had passion for the subject, that is Carl. I’m a keen cook and love a curry so I was full of questions, he had an answer for every single one.

From the warm welcome to the full tummy at the end you leave with the enthusiasm Carl’s been feeding you. I spent nearly 3 hours learning everything about spices and pastes, how to make the perfect naan then going through the stages of a jalfrezi which I got to eat at the end, it was really good (and not that hard to make really)!

Whether you’re a novice or a keen cook Network Chilli is the place to go. Carl’s spice collection is impressive, as is his stacks of gravy, meats, chillis (there’s some top level spice right there) and knowledge.

He offers small groups (up to 4) classes in his studio or larger groups in alternative locations, ideal for all including kids and corporate events.

Instead of eating out, why not have an evening with your mates and Carl, learn a new skill, have a decent meal and a top time.
