Network to reopen at The Plug

Matilda Street’s legendary music venue The Plug has faced an uncertain future since closing back in 2018 but it’s set to reopen under new management as Network.

Network, by the team at Record Junkee, who also hosts live music will be bringing exciting bands to Sheffield as they reopen the 1,200 venue on Matilda Street.

The Plug opened in 2005 with 3 rooms, hosting regular club nights and huge gigs from the likes of Babyshambles, Arctic Monkeys and Justice but the venue faced mismanagement over the years. It’s 2018 closure came as a surprise to many, including their own staff and there has been confusion over ownership ever since.

Earlier this year, Lane7, the bowling alley opposite used the site as a food court when restrictions were eased for outdoor hospitality but Network will be the first opportunity for the public to step foot on the sticky dance floors again.
