Post Lockdown Q&A with Adam & Dan from Heist Brew Co.

After a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, months of lockdowns, tier systems and restrictions, we are all hopeful that things will get back to normal by the summer. Whilst the government has staggered its roadmap to minimise risk of even more deaths and setbacks, there finally seems to be a light at the end of this dark tunnel.

We are catching up with some of the people behind Sheffield’s independents to find out what they are looking forward to the most.

This week we spoke to Adam & Dan from Heist Brew Co.

How have you found the past 12 months? What have you missed the most?

Different, exhausting but fun.  As well as trying to keep the business afloat with new and creative ways of generating revenue we have had our new Sheffield venue to keep us occupied through each lockdown. It has however allowed us time to develop new skills that we can take into 2021 allowing us to develop the business further.

We have missed pubs… But more specifically the social aspects of working in our industry.  The ability to go wherever we want whenever we want, nationally our internationally, but this also applies to customer interaction. In summary, just being able to travel and talk to people face to face would be nice…..

What restaurant will you be going to first and what will you be eating?

Adam – definitely Domo. Great place, great people, independent, and the food is just awesome. I went a lot during Eat Out To Help Out and have not been able to get it delivered to where I live.

Dan – Nether Edge Pizza – Ordered a lot through lockdown, If I could have pizza for breakfast dinner and tea I would.
Other than this, definitely drinking and eating in our own venue this year will be amazing.

Where will you be having your first drink?

We’ve actually booked a table for the 12th April at our friends over at Triple Point Brewery.  As well as this we’re looking forward to getting out to beer festivals and have a fair few that, fingers crossed, will be going ahead this year.

What is the biggest lesson you have learnt during the past year?

That business is a ride that you must enjoy come rain or shine otherwise you have so many regrets and negativity towards everything that it just takes the shine away from what you set out to do in the first place.

What are you most excited for when things get to normal?

TRAVELLING!!!! – We have brewery relationships in Europe and USA that we’re dying to get to, we’ve even been invited to Jordan and Thailand so not sure how we’re going to afford/fit all the trips in when we get chance to.  Zoom has been great for keeping in contact but the physical experience of being somewhere new and different, accompanied by meeting new people and new friends is something that zoom can’t replicate unfortunately.
