Sheffield shortlisted for 'City of the Year'

Sheffield has been shortlisted for ‘City of the Year’ at the annual EG Awards which will take place this October.

The Steel City is up against Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Belfast and Cardiff. The nomination was put forward in a joint campaign by Sheffield City Council and the Sheffield Property Association, highlighting how the city has evolved, its mix of old and new, multiculturalism, its people, the communities and how it blurs industrial heritage with green space, creating a unique city for all.

EG is a data intelligence agency, specialising in the commercial property sector and their awards highlight those that succeed in creating a liveable city and expressed their surprise in Sheffield’s pitch which covered everything from architecture to the outdoors as well as the creativity that spills out of the people who live and work in the city.

This is the first time that the ‘City of the Year’ category has been included in the awards. Check out all 21 categories here and keep your fingers crossed for October.
