Description
This hand-burnished linocut print depicts the head gear and buildings at Barnsley Main Colliery. This is no longer a working coal mine, but the buildings have been preserved as part of a country park. There were once dozens of coal mines across the South Yorkshire coalfield – now only memories in most cases, or preserved as here as a memorial.
This original linocut print was created by me from my own photograph, using Daler-Rowney 90gsm, acid-free paper and water based ink. It is a unique item – not a digital or other reproduction. The image size is 207mm x 150mm. Thanks for viewing!
