What started as a wholesale bakery, providing deliciously dense brownies and creamy cheesecakes to some of Sheffield’s best independents, has grown to be Deliveroo’s number one food provider in Sheffield. And the astonishing part? Doughboy only started delivering during the COVID19 crisis…
Prior to March 2020, you could get your hands on some moreish Doughboy bakes by heading down to Cutlery Works and picking up a brownie from Bullion Chocolate or a Coffee Caramel brownie from Foundry Coffee Roasters. If you weren’t near Kelham Island, Steam Yard on Division Street stocked your Doughboy fix including a tempting tiffin. Doughboy is also available to be stocked nationwide and provides Just Gaia, located in Piece Hall, Halifax with delicious bakes.
Whilst all these ways of ‘getting your dough on’ are starting to reopen (post lockdown) – Doughboy expanded over the course of the COVID19 crisis and turned its operations to focus on Dough to Door delivery, available on Deliveroo or CityGrab (Sheffield’s independent delivery service!)
Originally, the bakery was offering a choice of classic doughs or ‘Dirty Doughs’ which consist of a cookie dough, topped with a selection of different chocolate bars for delivery via Deliveroo. But as of July 2020, Doughboy is now providing 15 different topping options (with the plans to add more!) to Sheffield and its surrounding areas via Deliveroo and CityGrab!
Popular choices from Doughboy include Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Nutella, Kinder Bueno and Lotus Biscoff (an added bonus – Lotus Biscoff and selected doughs can be made vegan!)
To sweeten the deal, Doughboy also allows the option for dessert-lovers to have a 120ml tub of Sheffield’s own, Our Cow Molly ice cream with their dough.
What started as a way to adapt to a crisis, has snowballed astronomically and now Doughboy has built its own cookie dough loving community across its social platforms, Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
The Naked Sheff recently reviewed one of Doughboy’s vegan treats – the almond, dark chocolate, and orange classic dough: “We LOVED it! Probably the best cookie dough dessert we’ve ever had…The dough was perfectly crisp on the outside and light and melty in the middle, with big chunks of dark chocolate running through it.”
